how it all started

The story of our family company…

Many years ago, when the children pictured were very small, some friends gave us an old play set. I added to the play set, and we called it ‘Fort Blenheim’ after the area in which we lived.

Over the years, I have been asked many times, “where is Fort Blenheim?” I smile as I tell the story. For you see, Fort Blenheim was in my backyard. It is a structure that is forever in my heart and forever in the memory of my playful children. I needed a name for my candle company. The name needed to be something that we, as a family, could be proud to stand behind when we went to markets, fairs and other events.

I wanted a business name that, like that fort, stands the testament of weather and time; something that showed that you are capable of anything with a little imagination and hard work. When you hold your new Fort Blenheim Candle, you are seeing the product of this story, our family story.

“Blenheim” is but a tiny spot on the maps if you look close enough. There are a couple of famous vineyards there and our good ole fort in the backyard.

The kids are older now, as you can imagine. Then again, aren’t we all? It has been quite a few years since those pictures were taken. The kids are all grown up and have their own awesome ambitions and ideas for life now, but one thing is for certain, they still know and love a great candle when they see one. We hope you enjoy yours!

Our Candles & Pottery

“PUrveyors of fine & unique fragranced candles”

Candles for your home.

In the Spring of 2008, when we first began our candle line, my goal was to create candles with unique fragrances that people would genuinely want in their homes. I wanted the scents to evoke a favorite memory or event in their lives.

During those early days I never thought I’d end up taking the entire family along for the journey. With my wife and children by my side, Fort Blenheim Candle & Clayworks was born. Together we operate our company on a solid foundation core values: respect, quality & stewardship.
